Session Fees & Rebates

Individual therapy sessions—including EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches—are offered in 50-minute appointments. The standard fee is $220 per session.

Many clients are eligible for a Medicare rebate when attending under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, which may reduce the out-of-pocket cost.

Fees can vary depending on the service provided, referral pathway, or any additional administrative requirements (such as third-party funding or written reports). If you’re unsure what applies to your circumstances, you’re welcome to get in touch for clarification.

The sections below outline the main rebate and funding options available.

Medicare

How do Medicare rebates for therapy sessions work? The Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative allows people to claim Medicare rebates for psychology sessions. With a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP or psychiatrist, you may be eligible for rebates on up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year. You pay the full fee on the day, and Medicare processes a rebate back to your bank account (if you’ve registered your details). The rebate covers part of the session cost, and there will be an out-of-pocket gap. Some people find that 10 sessions are enough, while others need ongoing support. If more sessions are helpful for you, we can talk together about options — whether that’s self-funding, spacing sessions differently, or exploring other supports. Other funding options may also be available depending on your situation (e.g. private health funds, NDIS, Victims Services, or WorkCover).

Private Health Insurance

If you have private health insurance with extras cover, you may be eligible for a rebate on psychology sessions. Coverage depends on your individual policy, so it’s best to check directly with your insurer.
Please note: you can claim either Medicare or private health for a session—not both. Private health funds cannot cover the “gap” left after a Medicare rebate.

Other Funding Options
NSW Victims Support Scheme (VSS)

Approved providers can deliver funded counselling for people affected by violent crime in NSW through the Victims Support Scheme.

WorkCover (NSW and Victoria)

Clients with accepted psychological injury claims may have sessions funded through state schemes (icare/insurers in NSW; WorkSafe in Victoria).

NDIS (Self-Managed or Plan-Managed Funds)
NDIS participants with self-managed funding can choose to use their funds for psychological support, paying for sessions directly and then claiming reimbursement. If your plan is plan-managed, your plan manager can pay invoices on your behalf, as long as they are provided in the required format.
Cancellation Policy

Appointments are set aside especially for each client. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please provide as much notice as possible (e.g. at least 24–48 hours). Late cancellations or non-attendance may attract a fee, as it is often not possible to fill the appointment at short notice.
